The Paper Editor is where you write publication-ready manuscripts with verified inline statistics.

Overview

The Paper Editor provides:

  • Two-column layout: Write on the left, see insights on the right
  • Inline statistics: Clickable numbers linked to source computations
  • Real-time verification: Instant feedback on statistic validity
  • Citation suggestions: Relevant literature as you write

Editor Layout

The editor uses a two-column layout:

Writing with Statistics

Inserting Statistics

  1. Type naturally or use /stat command
  2. Select a statistic from your analysis
  3. The statistic appears as a clickable chip

Example:

Thirty-day mortality occurred in [27 patients (3.2%)] with a mean age of [72.4 ± 8.2] years.

Verifying Statistics

Each statistic chip shows its status:

Status Color Meaning
✓ Verified Blue Linked to valid computation
⚠ Stale Yellow Source data has changed
✗ Invalid Red Computation not found

Clicking Statistics

Click any statistic to see:

  • Source computation: The exact code/query
  • Dataset version: Which data was used
  • Run ID: Unique identifier for audit
  • Timestamp: When it was computed

Formatting

Text Formatting

  • Bold: Ctrl/Cmd + B
  • Italic: Ctrl/Cmd + I
  • Underline: Ctrl/Cmd + U

Structure

  • Headings: Use #, ##, ###
  • Lists: Use - or 1.
  • Tables: Insert via toolbar

Use Generate > Section to create AI-drafted sections based on your analysis.

Collaboration

Real-time Editing

Multiple team members can edit simultaneously:

  • See who's editing (colored cursors)
  • Changes sync instantly
  • Automatic conflict resolution

Comments

  1. Select text
  2. Click Comment or Ctrl/Cmd + M
  3. Type your comment
  4. Mention teammates with @

Version History

Access previous versions:

  1. Click History in toolbar
  2. Browse versions by date
  3. Preview changes (diff view)
  4. Restore if needed

Export your manuscript to:
